(TargetLiberty.org) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is apparently thrilled that oil prices crashed on Tuesday. In fact, she even tweeted about it, but then quickly thought better of voicing her opinion and deleted the tweet. Unfortunately, just because you delete it doesn’t mean it’s gone.

Oil prices in the US dropped below $0 on Tuesday and continued to drop Wednesday over concerns the price could stay low until good news on reopening America emerges.
The drop is being attributed to the collapse in demand over the past few months due to the global coronavirus pandemic, resulting in a surge in supply. People are just not driving and planes aren’t flying. According to Markets Insider, at 2:30 Eastern on Tuesday, crude oil is up to $9.06 after a historic low of minus $37 per barrel on Monday.
Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described ‘democratic socialist’ pushing for her Green New Deal tweeted, “You absolutely love to see it,” apparently referring to the drastic drop in oil prices. Her tweet didn’t go over well on social media where detractors accused her of taking advantage of the current economic crisis to further her political narrative.
What AOC failed to consider in her thoughtless tweet is many thousands of oil and gas-related workers and supporting businesses will be impacted. All this during a time when the COVID-19 crisis is already causing layoff and hurting communities, workers and families.
Social media followers weren’t the only ones to take the freshman radical to task. Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) said that AOC’s use of twitter to celebrate the oil crash “… is unacceptable and unbecoming of a member of Congress.”
Looks like she put her foot in it again.
