(TargetLiberty.org) – George Zimmerman, known for the shooting death Trayvon Martin in 2012, is accusing Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) of defamation in a new lawsuit.
According to the lawsuit, in which Zimmerman is seeking $265 million in damages, Buttigieg and Warren have labeled Zimmerman as a white supremacist online.
Trayvon Martin would have been 25 today.
How many 25th birthdays have been stolen from us by white supremacy, gun violence, prejudice, and fear?#BlackLivesMatter
— Pete Buttigieg (@PeteButtigieg) February 5, 2020
On February 5, Trayvon Martin’s 25th birthday, Warren and Buttigieg both tweeted about Martin’s birthday and mentioned racism and gun violence.
Larry Klayman, the attorney representing Zimmerman, claims that the presidential hopefuls were using Zimmerman as a way to get votes in the African-American community.
This lawsuit comes two months after Zimmerman filed a lawsuit against Martin’s family and prosecutors in the case for $100 million. In that lawsuit, he claims that false testimony was used against him.
