(TargetLiberty.org) – The CEOs of two of America’s biggest tech companies testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, and Jack Dorsey of Twitter, were ordered to appear at the virtual hearing to discuss their behavior during the election campaign.

The hearing was called after Facebook and Twitter both decided to suppress a New York Post story about Joe Biden and his links to his son Hunter’s business deals. Senators also wanted to investigate multiple complaints that the platforms had censored or shadow-banned conservatives.
Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) pushed Zuckerberg and Dorsey hard on their censorship policies. While they claim their platforms aren’t publishers, they act as if they are. Graham asked, “if you’re not a newspaper at Twitter or Facebook, then why do you have editorial control over the New York Post?” That’s a question many Americans seem to be asking, as thousands of people leave the big social media platforms and head for alternatives where free speech is still allowed.
