Weekend Wrap-Up

Weekend Wrap-Up

(TargetLiberty.org) – We have finally had a weekend that wasn’t bonkers. Did you notice? Of course, that doesn’t mean the news stopped rolling. Here’s some of the information you may have missed while you were enjoying your downtime.

Trump Grants Clemency

On July 10, President Donald Trump issued an executive order granting his longtime associate, Roger Stone, clemency. According to the White House press release, the president’s former adviser is a “victim of the Russian Hoax.” The commander-in-chief said the charges Stone was convicted of were a “product of recklessness borne of frustration and malice.”

As a result, the president didn’t want his former adviser to serve the 40-month sentence he was handed and declared “Roger Stone is now a free man!”

Authorities Search 2A Couple

On June 28, a St. Louis couple made national headlines when they pointed guns at protesters while protecting their property. Mark and Patricia McCloskey are both attorneys and told the press they support Black Lives Matter (BLM), but they were victims of “a mob.”

Unfortunately, instead of protecting their Second Amendment rights, police executed a search warrant on their home on July 10. The authorities were reportedly looking for the guns the couple used to protect themselves from the mob. It’s not clear why authorities would need the weapons.

Mail-in Fraud

Thomas Cooper, a West Virginia man, pleaded guilty to altering mail-in requests for ballots. He was able to access them due to his career as a mailman.

According to reports, Cooper changed eight voters’ party affiliation from Democrat to Republican. The fraud was uncovered after the Pendleton County clerk saw the ballots and knew some of the people were not Republican. Cooper claims it was just a joke.

The news just proves how easy it is to alter mail-in ballots and registrations, and why it’s a real concern, not a hoax.
